This week I’ve had the pleasure of working on the Naked Nectar Smoothies website.
After completing a Website and SEO Optimisation Power Up package, I identified that a key way to improve the website and get more sales would be to redesign the homepage.
As you’ll know if you’ve read my blog, How to Create a Captivating Homepage, there is a certain methodology you can follow to make sure you’re creating a great first impression.
So without further ado, here’s what I did, and why I did it.
Above the fold
The new homepage greets visitors with a bright, bold image. It’s now easy to see what Naked Nectar offers (Ready-to-blend Smoothies) and why they’re awesome (they’re 100% natural and you can get them delivered to your door).
“Ready-to-Blend Smoothies” is the H1 (main header), which tells Google exactly what the site is about. Previously the site didn’t have a H1 on the homepage – a big no-no for SEO.
There’s a clear call-to-action button before you need to scroll down (Shop Smoothies), for those who know Naked Nectar smoothies and are ready to buy.
Those who haven’t been to the site before may need to do a bit more exploring before they’re convinced to start shopping.
Below the fold
How it Works
This is the first chance to educate visitors about the product. A visual diagram shows that whipping up a healthy Naked Nectar Smoothie is as simple as 1-2-3!
Tell a Story
The third section aims to communicate the benefits the customer will get from incorporating smoothies into their busy life. It also communicates some of the USPs (unique selling points) of Naked Nectar smoothies: “whole, raw, nutritious ingredients”, “individual serve, compostable pouches”, “no mess, no fuss”.
Customer Favourites
At this point, the visitor might be ready to start shopping, so it’s a good time to present them with the most popular products on offer.
If they still need more convincing, it’s time to hit them with some social proof. Reviews from current customers saying why they love the product so much, in their own words, is pretty powerful stuff.
Strong Finish
It’s important to finish strong by highlighting some of the great things about what you offer, that your competitors may not.
In this example, I’ve highlighted how healthy and fresh the smoothies are (with no sugar, dairy, palm oil or preservatives), how affordable they are (only $5.50 a serve!) and how convenient they are (delivered to your door in individual portions, ready to blend).
And of course, you should always finish the homepage with a final call to action, directing the user into the sales funnel.
Naked Nectar is a cheeky, playful brand so instead of saying shop smoothies again, I’ve gone with “Get your smoothie on”! Who could resist?
Would you like me to review your homepage?
I can take a look at the copy, images, the user experience, and the sales funnel, as well as the SEO and performance of your website. I’ll give you a detailed report, suggesting ways it could be improved.
